Cracking Post: Why Your Knuckles Pop

A few weeks ago, this was all over social media. At least, it was all over my social media feeds, because I’m a nerd and follow many, many health-related pages. At last, scientists have discovered what makes our knuckles crack! Important and meaningful research, I’m sure we can all agree.

Basically, when you crack a knuckle, the pressure in the joint drops and a bubble of vapour is formed. I like to think this is to stop us from imploding. Here’s a motion x-ray video of what occurs:
