Neuromuscular Reeducationsm is a hands-on technique developed in the USA which yields phenomenal results unmatched by other soft-tissue techniques. I use NMRsm to treat a variety of musculoskeletal conditions including:
- shoulder pain and stiffness
- neck pain
- some types of headaches
- back pain
- hip and knee pain
- elbow and wrist pain
- ankle pain
Every muscle in the body is surrounded by a smooth sheath of connective tissue called fascia. When an area is injured, whether it’s muscle, connective tissue, fascia, tendon or a combination of these elements, the body handles the inflammatory response by laying down fibrous scar tissue. Scar tissue is less elastic, second grade and poorly vascularised in comparison to healthy tissue. Adhesions occur wherever damage and inflammation have occurred and they limit both strength and range of motion. NMRsm works to break down the adhesions in a controlled way, allowing the body to replace the scar tissue with healthy muscle and connective tissues. Once the adhesions have been freed up, we then go on to the "reeducation" part, which involves simple rehabilitation exercises to help you return to your full strength.
Change will sometimes be easy and quick, and sometimes will be slow and frustrating. My rule of thumb is that unless you have a chronic condition (such as frozen shoulder), we should see significant improvements within the first three sessions. Most people need three to six sessions depending on the severity of the condition.
I offer a FREE consultation called a spine check to give you an opportunity to meet me and see if I can help you. Don't be mislead by the name - you don't have to have back pain to come for a free spine check! Book your appointment and I can have a look at your shoulder or knee or hip or whatever it is that's bothering you.
